We’re very lucky in Devon to have such a wealth of talented local artisans who are passionate about reintroducing people to the charm and individuality of handmade goods.

Dartmoor Christmas Fayre featuring Colville Leather (Saturday only)
Where: The Moorland Hotel, Haytor
When: Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December, 11am-4pm
Nestled at the base of Dartmoor’s spellbinding Haytor, The Moorland Hotel is a magical setting all year round. Add a sprinkle of Christmas sparkle, and you’ve got a truly enchanting venue that’s perfect for immersing yourself into the festive spirit. The first weekend in December sees The Moorland play host to a rustic Christmas Fayre with over 30 quality gift exhibitors.
There’ll be artisan treasures aplenty (including our own handcrafted leather goods), with local makers from across Devon eagerly exhibiting their handcrafted goods. With live music, hot mulled wine and roasted chestnuts to enjoy, this is a wonderful way to kick off a month of festivities.
Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market
Where: Exeter Cathedral Green
When: Thursday 15th November – Sunday 16th December
Every year, Exeter’s famous Cathedral Green undergoes the most magical of transformations. With a festive vendor village, a bandstand and even a covered bar area, the Green becomes a real winter wonderland when Exeter Christmas Market arrives. If you haven’t visited already, we highly recommend a trip.
The organisers pride themselves on supporting local businesses, with a huge variety of locally handcrafted gifts and homemade delicacies on offer. There’s an eclectic mix of independent traders, showcasing the very best artisan gifts of the festive season.
Once you’ve weaved your way around the bustling trade village, your visit wouldn’t be complete without a hog roast bap and a cup of homemade hot chocolate as you enjoy performances from Exeter’s best local talent. And of course, all this takes place in the captivating glow of the city’s ancient cathedral.
Nine in Totnes featuring Colville Leather

This festive lifestyle pop-up store, burrowed in the heart of artisan town Totnes, is a treasure trove of handmade delights just waiting to be explored. Totnes Late Night Shopping

When: Tuesday evenings in December (4th, 11th, 18th), 3:30-9:30pm
Devon’s most famed late-night shopping event is back! For three Tuesday evenings in December, Totnes High Street will be transformed into a magical wonderland of festive cheer. The Totnes Christmas Market is all about celebrating local artisan talent. With everything from handmade jewellery, pottery, prints and more, you can immerse yourself in the traditional spirit of the town’s famous festive fayre.
Whether you’re looking for a special Christmas gift, or simply fancy treating yourself, there’s endless possibilities at this bustling Christmas market. Once you’ve enjoyed the artisan delights on offer, why not enjoy a glass of hot mulled wine whist listening to the festive tones of the carol singers – a marvellous evening in a magical Devon market.
Etsy Made Local Exeter Christmas Market
Where: Exeter Phoenix, Gandy Street, Exeter
When: Saturday 1st December (11am-5pm) + Sunday 2nd December (11am-3pm)
Exeter’s first ever Etsy Made Local market is coming to Exeter Phoenix on the first weekend of December. This is part of an exciting national event to celebrate the makers, designers and collectors that sell on Etsy.com, the online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods.
If you’re on a mission to buy local when it comes to this year’s Christmas gifts, then this is the event for you. An ideal opportunity to connect with and support local makers from across Devon, this Etsy Made Local market will showcase a whole range of unique, affordable and meaningful gifts.
There’s also live music to get you in the festive mood, as well as a charity gift wrapping service and wreath-making workshops.
Native Makers Winter Market
Where: Ocean Studios, Royal William Yard, Plymouth
When: Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th November, 10am-5pm
This two-day festive makers market returns to Plymouth’s Ocean Studios soon, ready to showcase the work of over 60 emerging local makers. Here, local artisans will gather to display their traditionally-made gifts, inspiring Christmas shoppers with their passion and creativity. There’s nothing better than uncovering a hidden artisan talent in your local area, and the Native Makers Winter Market is a great opportunity to do just that.
There’s also lots of delicious snacks and fun, free activities on offer – a great event for the whole family.
